ALPES-MARITIMES (06) - "L'ESCARENE, view from the large bridge (Alpes-Maritimes)". 19th century. Original Sketch by Félix Benoist in graphite and enhanced with white gouache, on greige wove paper. PREPARATORY DRAWING for the lithograph entitled "L' Escarène: vue prise du grand Pont (Alpes-Maritimes)", published in "Nice et Savoie" in 1864 by Charpentier. Situated "L'Escarène, vue prise du grand pont (Alpes-Maritimes)" lower left in pencil. Provenance: Fonds of the Charpentier workshop run by Pierre-Henri (1788-1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806-1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then Nantes (from 1854). 23.7 x 32 cm. Condition A (slight trace of fold in upper left corner, well preserved).
