ENGLISH SCHOOL First half of the 19th century. Paintings of silhouettes of British ships under glass with maple frame (small accidents), captioned at the bottom in gilt lettering. "H.M. Schips. Malborough and Euralyus". H.26.5 - L.31 cm. The image of the Malborough possibly refers to the ship sunk in 1800 in Quiberon Bay, and rediscovered in 1980 in fifteen meters of water. ET "H.M.S. Euralyus" (two vessels flying the British flag, observed from the shore by a couple standing at the foot of a lighthouse). H. 27.5 - L. 36 cm. Provenance for one of them (according to an old printed label affixed to the reverse of the backing card): The Parker Gallery (Albemarle Street, London, W. I).
