ALPES-MARITIMES (06) - COUNTY OF NICE - "Un sentier de la Vallée de la Tinée, Comté de NICE, Jour de foire". 19th century. Sketch in graphite by Félix BENOIST (Saumur 1818-Nantes 1896), enhanced with white gouache, on tracing paper. In the upper part, pencil text explaining the drawing and the modifications to be made for the lithographed version. Preparatory drawing for the lithograph 'Une route dans les montages du comté de Nice un jour de foire', published in "Nice et Savoie", Paris, Charpentier in 1864. Situated in gray pencil lower left. Provenance: Fonds of the Charpentier workshop run by Pierre-Henri (1788-1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806-1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). 26.5 x 19.5 cm - Condition A (good condition).
