CALVADOS (14) - VIRÉ - [Sketch of Viré costumes]. 19th century. Sketch in pencil on chine paper. Handwritten annotations at upper left in gray pencil: "Environs de Viré, Coiffe de Viré; La coiffe peut être toute en dentelle brodée, on ajoute le diadème de fleurs artificielles et 2 grosses épingles chaine d'or et croix au cou, manière particulière de porter le mouchoir". Provenance: Fonds of the Charpentier workshop run by Pierre-Henri (1788-1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806-1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then Nantes (from 1854). 33.5 x 24.5 cm. A/B condition (a few small handling stains, lightly dusted margins and verso).
