FRENCH SCHOOL First half of the 19th century: Landscape with river and bridge with sheep and cows returning. In the upper part, a medallion portrait of a woman crowned by two loves. Watercolor. Glued to sheet. Illustrated framing. (Insolate). Annotated on the lower part of the mounting sheet in brown inkon either side of the coat of arms with greyhounds surmounted by a crown of fleurs-de-lys: Donné à Me la Marquise de Coutances par M. De Menou Officier au VIIe Régiment d'Infanterie du Roy. H. 15.6 - L. 24 cm. The name De Menou most likely refers to the de Menou family, of chivalric extraction since 1055, originally from the Perche region.
