Marina Romanoff-Galitzine. The Holy Night. Christmas and legends in poems, illustrated with original lithographs in colors. Six-Fours, chez l'Auteur, 1950. A large volume in-4°, in sheets under a rigid illustrated folder, in an illustrated case. Contains 84 loose plates: -80 plates numbered on the back (some enhanced); -four unnumbered plates: colophon signed by the author; constellation; two blank plates. Marina Romanoff-Galitzine is the author of the text, the graphical design, the lithographically reproduced illustrations, and the handwritten additions. As the preface by Pierre Mornand (ƒ 7) indicates: -the historiated initials, enriched with gold and colors, are the work of Prince A. Galitzine. -The gothic Provençal are due to Pierre Fontan and the uncials to Gabriel Bernard. The polychrome lithographic print is the work of the presser-lithographer J. de Walther Wittenheim. The whole is lithographed; some plates are enhanced by hand with white and colored gouaches, others have handwritten lines added to the lithography, as well as a signature. One of 115 copies "on half-tone paper from the Canson-Montgolfier paper mills, containing 4 original miniatures and 2 illuminated lettering". These four "original miniatures and two illuminated lettering" are included in the paginated plates: several of them are indeed enhanced with gouache, by hand. In addition, 15 author's copies (I-XV) and 20 collaborators' copies (XVI-XXXV) were printed. That is to say a total of 150 copies. Preface by Pierre Mornand. Марина Романова-Голицына является автором текста, шрифта, иллюстраций и рукописных пометок. Из предисловия, написанного Пьером Морнаном, следует: - буквицы, подкрашенные цветом и золотом, работы Александра Голицына; - провансальский готический шрифт работы Пьера Фортана и унциалы работы Габриэля Бернара. Некоторые из литографий подсвечены гуашью, другие содержат рукописные тексты и подпись. Один из 115 экземпляров на цветной бумаге Canson-Montgolfier, содержащий 4 оригинальные миниатюры и 2 раскрашенные буквицы. Помимо 115 экземпляров были изданы 15 авторских экземпляров и 20 экземпляров участвовавших в работе над книгой.
