The Farmer. Fables and Tales, dedicated to His Imperial Highness the Grand Duke of all the Russias, &c. &c. Paris, Lacombe, 1775. One volume, small in-8°, full basane, smooth spine decorated. Author: François Armand (Franz Hermann) La Fermière, born in Strasbourg in 1737 and graduated in law, became secretary of the imperial chancellor of Russia, Count Michel Voronzov. Lafermière passed to the service of the Grand Duke Paul (1754-1801), future emperor of Russia (1796-1801). He was his tutor in French literature, and was a librarian at the court of the Grand Duke. Lafermière wrote two plays for the court theater: The Falcon and Don Carlos. In 1775, he dedicated his Fables et contes, published in Paris, to the Grand Duke Paul. Автор басен Франсуа Арманд (Франц Герман) Лафермьер (1737-1796), закончил Страсбургский университет, был секретарем русского посла в Лондоне графа Михаила Воронцова, с 1765 г.- в России. Занимал должность учителя французского языка, библиотекаря и чтеца при дворе наследника престола Великого Князя Павла Петровича, прослужил при "малом дворе" 28 лет. Написал либретто опер Бортнянского "Сокол" и "Дон Карлос" для придворного театра.
