NAPOLEON - "Feast given to Bonaparte at the National Palace of the Directory, after the treaty of Campo Formio, on 20 Frimaire Year 6e of the Republic (10 December 1797)". c.1802. Engraved by Pierre-Gabriel Berthault (1737-1831), after Abraham GIRADET (1764-1823). Nice proof before all letters, on wove paper. At the top left annotated in pencil "Tableaux historiques de la Révolution 1791-1805 - Luxembourg". Former collection: L. BONGARD (purple stamp on reverse, Lugt not described). Party of "convenience" given by the government in honor of the general following the peace treaty of Campo Formio on October 18, 1797. Ceremony accompanied by an orchestra playing Méhul. The moment when Napoleon is presented to the Directors by Talleyrand. 31,5 x 26,2 cm. Condition A (cut inside the copperplate mark and formerly glued by the corners on a vellum paper, two tiny light freckles in the sky, small margins of the copperplate).
