MANUSCRIBE LACRETELLE (Charles-Nicolas).... - Lot 83 - Eric Caudron
MANUSCRIBE LACRETELLE (Charles-Nicolas). [Correspondence and coins]. S.l.n.d., 70 pieces in-4 or in-8. In sheets. An important file, mainly handwritten, centred on the military activity of General Charles-Nicolas Lacretelle (1822-1891), son of Colonel Louis-François-Marie Lacretelle (1784-1859), who served during the Empire and distinguished himself at the siege of Saragossa. Most of the documents, however, relate to a short period of his career. He was promoted to colonel on 30 December 1857 and then to brigadier general on 13 August 1865. In that year he was employed in the repression of the revolt of the indigenous people of the province of Oran, and it is mainly these operations that are covered by all the documents gathered here. Based in Sidi-bel-Abbès, he carried out several raids towards the south to repel the coalitions of tribes.
