Revealed with a blue hawker's stamp on verso. Fine copper margins. In the midst of nature, the personification of Innocence holds a dove in one arm and, with the other, hands a piece of bread to a snake encircling a trunk. This engraving is based on a work by Jean François Léonor Mérimée, destroyed in 1871. 46 x 36.2 cm.
