Posthumous edition printed on wove paper. Good margins. The plate was commissioned for 1,200 francs by bankers Jules Beyerque and François-Alfred Pioche, who specialized in real estate negotiations. The tablet shows their portraits and initials. It seems that this engraving was intended to support a fraudulent scheme to sell shares in a fictitious Franco-Californian company. One of the artist's most famous works. 37 x 107 cm - Condition A (Good condition).
