ATLAS. Atlas curieux... by Nicolas De Fer. Paris, 1709 and Atlas ... by Nicolas De Fer, 1705. In plano, (565 x 420 mm) bound in contemporary mottled brown calf. The binding shows some defects (dull corners, worn headpieces, rubbed or even cracked upper spine). A dozen leaves show a small old marginal wetness that does not alter the plates. The Atlas is composed as follows - two full-page engraved titles. - eight maps: planisphere, celestial planisphere, world maps (and a description) and map of Europe. - four maps of Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas and three descriptions. - France: forty-two maps, views and plans: Paris, Versailles; Châteaux Royaux thirty-one maps, views and plans and eight descriptions. And twenty-nine views, maps and plans and twenty descriptions of French towns and provinces. - Germany and Switzerland: six maps, views... and one description. -British Isles: plan of London, two maps and two descriptions. -United Provinces and Catholic Netherlands: thirteen maps, views... and six descriptions. -Holy German Empire: twenty maps, views (one beautiful view of Vienna) and four descriptions. -Denmark, Poland ...: six maps and views and four descriptions. - Spain, Gibraltar and Portugal: twenty-one maps and views and six descriptions. - Italian states: twenty-nine maps, views and plans (Milan, Venice, Rome, Cremona, Naples, Po Delta, Genoa, Messina, Palermo...) and nineteen descriptions. -Ottoman Empire, Dardanelles, Persia...: seven maps, views and plans and five descriptions. -Chain, Philippines, Pondicherry, India...: five maps and plans and three descriptions. -Africa: four maps and descriptions. -Americas: eleven maps (California, New Mexico, Cartagena, West Indies, etc.) and ten descriptions.
