JAPAN, Edo Period XIXth Century. Large Katana sword featuring a handle surmounted by a nielloed bronze "Kashira" pommel, the "Tsuka Ito" rope braided on a stingray skin, holding a small bronze "Menuki" decoration. The "Tsuba" guard is below a "Fuchi" holding the "Katana" blade. The "Saya" scabbard is in black lacquer decorated with "mon", heraldic symbol of the samurai clans, it has small knives on the sides held by a small guard (one guard missing), the "kojiri" saber tip is also in niello bronze with dragon decoration. Total length: 85 cm.
