Printed by Chaix (successor to Chéret) 18 rue Brunel, Paris. Canvas poster. Oscar Metenier resigned from the French police force in 1889 to devote himself to playwriting. He often drew on his real-life experiences with the police to create detective novels and popular plays. L'Infamie shocked the masses with its macabre depiction of murder, and eventually inspired the first forms of horror films. 140 x 206 cm. Condition A (traces of old folds, otherwise good condition).
