Wooden frame and gilded stucco with foliate scrolls and flowers in the corners, bearing an old CONSTABLE cartouche. To be compared with Constable's landscapes painted on the motif of Stour Valley and Dedham village, in the Boston Museum (1814) and "Hampstead Heath" (1820) with a very low horizon line and cloudy skies (Cf.
