Alexandre Blok. Translation and adaptation in verse of Heinrich Heine's poem Lorelei.
One folio in-4°, written recto and verso, and signed.
Heinrich Heine's poem Lorelei appears in the Livre des chants (cycle Le retour).
Alexandre Blok translated the poem in January 1909, and published it for the first time in Gaudeamus in 1911. This translation subsequently appeared in Blok's poetry collections (1911, 1916).
It's worth noting that translations of Heine's poetry occupied a special place in Alexandre Blok's literary work as a translator. He was much more deeply involved in translations of this German poet than in translations of other poets. He was interested in Heine's entire oeuvre: not just poetry, but also prose and drama. In addition to his own translations, Alexandre Blok edited translations of Heine by others. It was thanks to his translations that many of Heinrich Heine's works found their way into Russian literature.
This leaflet is more than a translation; it's a genuine adaptation, a creation.
