Black pencil, red chalk, shading and white highlights. Glued to cardboard (slight foxing). Signed and annotated lower left to Dr. Allard souvenir of his friend Hebert. H. 29 - L. 18.5 cm. Study related to the painting La Vierge au chasseur painted by Hébert in Rome in 1892, exhibited at the 1897 Salon, then at the 1900 Salon under the title La Vierge au chardonneret, and kept at the Musée Hébert in La Tronche (Cf. René Patrick d'Uckerman, Ernest Hébert. Tableau chronologique et synoptique p. 229 & 230 (quoted) - RMN 1982).
