CALLOT Jacques (1592-1635) - LOTTINI Giovanni Angelo - (Miracles of Our Lady of the Annunciation) - "Scelta d'alcuni miracoli e grazie della Santissima Nunziata di Firenze descritti dal p.f. Gio. Angiolo Lottini dell' Ordine de Serui alla ser.ma Cristiana di Loreno gran duchessa di Toscana". Complete book of the 2nd edition (1636, Landini in Florence) (frontispiece + plates 3 to 42). Ref: L78, and 80 to 119 (L,79 "The Annunciation" is absent from the 2nd edition). Comprising 41 copper-engraved plates by Jacques Callot, in 1st state/2. Old half parchment binding with corners from the 19th century. For this book, it is probably the 1st edition of 1619, even if the frontispiece (1st page) indicates the date of 1636. Indeed, Lieure indicates that the illustration plates (Lieure 80-119) are only found in 1st state in the 1st edition, and that there are copies of this edition with the frontispiece indicating 1636. Lieure adds that "this anomaly" can only be explained, according to Meaume, by the discovery of old copies remaining in store, but incomplete of the title". "The purpose of this book is to describe the principal miracles worked by the virtue of the image of Our Lady of the Annunciation of Florence. It is dedicated to Christine de Lorraine, daughter of Charles III and widow of Ferdinand de Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany" (Meaume, Recherches sur la vie et les ouvrages de Jacques Callot). 20 x 14 cm.
