This is in fact a rebacking of an old binding, made in the 19th century, at the request of Lord Derby, a famous English bibliophile, whose ex libris is glued on the upper flyleaf, and whose coat of arms is cold-stamped in the center of the upper board. ORIGINAL EDITION of this historical and literary text. Printed in Poitiers in 1527 by Jacques Bouchet and Guillaume Bouchet, whose names and monograms appear in the center of the title page. EXAMPLE HAVING BELONGED TO ETIENNE BALUZE, secretary and librarian of Jean-Baptiste COLBERT, born in Tulle in 1630 and died in Paris in 1718, whose handwritten signature " Stephanus Baluzius Tutelensis " appears at the bottom of the title page. Woodcut illustration: title page decorated with a three-piece screened frame with the Bouchet typographical mark; equestrian portrait of Louis de La Trémoille in a medallion with motto accompanied by heraldic representations (including that of La Trémoille). Reading this hagiographic biography, one is presented with incomparable information on the Italian campaigns. Jean Bouchet completed his research with the oral testimony of his protector, Louis II, Prince de La Trémoille, who died during the battle of Pavia in 1525. He describes the life of this warlord in the service of Charles VIII, Louis XII and François I, his actions in Brittany and Burgundy, and especially his participation in the Italian wars.
