Veneered chest of drawers with five drawers on three rows, concealing all the crosspieces, only underlined by a bronze astragal. Back legs in recess and front legs rounded off and finished with cambered feet. Satin decoration in amaranth frames underlined by nets, forming reserves for the bronzes. Ornamentation of chased bronzes and for some still gilded: astragalus, falls, clasps, hooves, rings with laurels and pastilles. Grey marble Saint Anne molded with a cavet. Stamped J. H. Riesener - Master on January 23, 1768. Transitional period. (Minor damages and slight detachments). Height : 86,5 86.5 cm wide : 102 cm deep : 52.5 cm. The three locks of the drawers of the first row are called "tails": that is to say that the bolts lock downwards. The state of conservation of this chest is very good: the veneers are still very thick. We can even deduce that it has not been restored since its manufacture. It is virgin. The production of Jean Henri Riesener presents several phases. The most famous one is located during 10 years where he supplies the Court and especially the queen Marie Antoinette. Our chest of drawers corresponds to a period before 1774 when he received the title of Ordinary Cabinet Maker of the Crown - probably between 1768 and 1774.
