LEDIEU Philippe (after) (1805-1850) - [The attack of a horse by a tiger]. c.1830-1840. Aquatint and etching. Signed and dated "Ppe.Ledieu / 1834" lower right in the composition. Ref: I.F.F After 1800, not described. Proof on wove paper. Small margins of the copper. Philippe Ledieu, active from 1827, was an animal painter and portraitist of the Barbizon school. His most common subjects are horses and hunting scenes, we can recognize in this engraving, the influence of his master, Horace Vernet. 50 x 65 cm. Condition B/C (cut at the copper mark, old restorations).
