Perugino Gian Carlo Conestàbile della Staffa (1824-1877) was one of the most prominent Italian etruscan scholars, a disciple of Vermiglioli and his successor in the chair of archaeology at the University of Perugia. He was responsible for the discovery of the famous tomb of the Volumni, but in this book he focuses on the material of the Golini Tombs (or originally "tomba delle due bighe" and "tomba dei Velii"), unearthed in 1863, dated to the second half of the 4th century B.C. and entirely decorated with frescoes.
