- LA PLACE (Pierre-Antoine de). Interesting and little known pieces, to serve history and literature. By Mr. D.L.P. New edition. Bruxelles, et se trouve à Paris, Prault, 1785-1790, 8 vol. in 12, blond calf, smooth spines decorated with gilt fillets, garlands, gilt foliage and fleurons, black title and tomes, double gilt fillet on the boards, gilt garland on the edges, marbled edges, inner lace. Early 19th century binding (some spotting). Second edition, the first having appeared from 1781. This compilation is more a collection of ana than a periodical or a scientific collection strictly speaking. However, one finds in it the style of the man who was director of the Mercure and the Nouveau Choix: abundance of historical and literary anecdotes, translations from English, verses and epitaphs, unpublished letters (taken from Duclos's archives for volume I, then from the Mercure's correspondence). As in the Nouveau Choix, there are numerous borrowings from Prévost.
