A much sought-after account, rich in information of all kinds on the countries of the Middle East and the Malabar coast. One will note especially the parts devoted to the Christians of the East (V-5, V-6, V-7, V-8 and V-9) a whole chapter devoted to the Eastern Jews (VI-8). Born in Malaucène, Esprit Julien (1603-1671) had entered the Order of Discalced Carmelites in 1620; he was sent to the East by Cardinal Antonio Barberini in 1629.
