- GERVAISE (François-Armand). Les Véritables Lettres d'Abeillard et d'Héloïse, tirées d'un ancien manuscrit latin trouvé dans la bibliothèque de François d'Amboise Conseiller d'Etat. Translated by the author of their life, with very curious historical and critical notes. Paris, François Barois, 1723, 2 vols. in 12, (text on two columns in Latin and French translation opposite), marbled fawn calf, spine ribbed, cloisonné and fleuronné, title and tome, framed with simple cold fillet on the boards, gilt fillet on the edges, red tr. Binding of the period. A good copy.

As is well known, it is strictly impossible to know whether the famous Epistolae duorum amantium copied around 1471 by Johannes de Vepria date back to Abelard and Heloise: certainly old in style and lexicon, they are nonetheless anonymous in themselves. Cioranescu, XVIII, 31 006.
