- DU CHESNE (André). Historiae Normannorum scriptores antiqui, res ab illis per Galliam, Angliam, Apuliam, Capuae principatum, Siciliam, & Orientem gestas explicantes, ab anno Christi DCCCXXXVIII... Paris, Robert Foüet, Nicolas Buon, Sébastien Cramoisy, 1619, large vol. in folio, [6] ff. n. ch. (title, dedication to the clergy of Rouen, preface, relay title), 1104 pp, [8] ff. n. ch. of index and colophon, brick half calf, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt dots and fillets, green title page, spotted edges. Bound in the 19th century (beginning of a split in the upper jaw, freckles).

This immense compilation of Anglo-Norman and Italo-Norman historians was to comprise three volumes, but only this one was published, limited to England, and figured since the 19th century among the rarest and most sought-after compositions by Du Chesne (1584-1640). Here, one will find the chronicles prior to Rollon, Abbon's poem on the siege of Paris, the work of Orderic Vital, the Chronicle of Normandy, the Annals of Saint-Etienne de Caen, etc. Brunet II, 856. Brère I, 387-388.
