A beautiful uniform set which brings together two complementary works that are rarely found together: I. The third edition of Bourgoing's Nouveau voyage en Espagne, originally published in 1788, and which takes the title Tableau de l'Espagne moderne from the second edition (1797). It is distributed here in three volumes of text ([4]-VIII-398, [4]-410 and [4]-374 pp.), and a volume of atlas reduced to in-8 format, gathering the plates which are normally distributed in the volumes of text (title in folding, 15 plates generally in folding, among which 4 maps and plans, and 11 views, among which two plates of bullfighting) As is well known, this important report, probably the best one we have on Spain at the end of the 18th century, reflects the author's experience as a diplomat: Jean-François de Bourgoing (1748-1811) had indeed been secretary of the legation in Spain from 1777 to 1786, occasionally filling in for the minister Montmorin as ambassador. The first French translation of Reise von Amsterdam über Madrid und Cadiz, nach Genua (Berlin, 1799) by Christian August Fischer (1771-1829), who after completing his law studies in Leipzig, made a series of trips to Europe from 1792 to 1799. Uncommon, it consists of two volumes of text (IV-255 and [4]-350 pp.), with two plates under serpents, as frontispieces. It will be reprinted in 1808. Palau 91762.
