Ewer. Brass with engraved decoration. Levant, circa 1900. Height 30,5 cm. This type of piece is in the continuity of the decoration of medieval Mamluk metals. There is an abundant engraved decoration of calligraphic cartouches, interlaced scrolls, and Greek style interlacing friezes. Its Persian-inspired shape consists of a flared pedestal, a large globular body, a sinuous beak and a handle topped by a small tank for pouring water. Expert: Mr Alexis RENARD
