Engraved with etching and burin by Nicolas DUPIN (known as the young), after a drawing by Pierre Le Clerc (Paris c.1740 † after 1799). Proof on watermarked laid paper (Letters). In Paris, at Esnauts and Rapilly rue St Jacques in the Ville de Coutances, with priv. du Roi. Board of the "Gallerie des Modes et Costumes Français", one of the first fashion periodicals founded in 1778 and considered as the most beautiful work on the fashions of the time. This plate is part of the 26th issue (20th suite of fashionable clothes in 1779) and represents the Garment of Idamé in the Orphanage of China, given by Sarrazin Costumier Ordinaire des Princes. Margins. 38.5 x 24.3 cm. Condition A (Rare light freckles in the margins).
