Bodmer was the most skilful master of the Comte process: "In this technique, the drawing is well traced at the point on the more or less covered plate, but it is the whites that are bitten. The line thus remains in relief, as in wood, which this engraving looks like " (Laran and Adhémar, I.F.F.)
