BODMER Karl (Zurich 1809 † Barbizon 1893).... - Lot 33 - Eric Caudron
BODMER Karl (Zurich 1809 † Barbizon 1893). Untitled; Deer and Fawn. Process Count. Reunion of two proofs on thin vellum, signed in the board, trimmed to the subject and mounted on strong vellum. Ref : Beraldi n°4. Covered with the collector's stamp of Alfred II Beurdeley (Lugt n°421). Respective dimensions : 47.8 x 31 and 29.2 x 43 cm (support sheets). Condition B (a few freckles on the first proof). Set of 2 pieces. Bodmer was the most skilful master of the Comte process: "In this technique, the drawing is well traced at the point on the more or less covered plate, but it is the whites that are bitten. The line thus remains in relief, as in wood, which this engraving looks like " (Laran and Adhémar, I.F.F.)
